Between Ses Salines and Es Cavallet beaches, right in the middle of the Natural Park, rests Ses Portes watchtower, sitting over an old fishermen’s shelter. It was the first built in Ibiza to defend the inhabitants from pirate attacks. It used to have three canons and two permanent watchmen, and it was complementary with another tower in s’Espalmador islet, as the crossfire that came in between repelled the enemy boats. On the tower’s foot there is a picturesque group of fishing huts, facing the intense turquoise water.
